Here's Looking At You, Kid

Its safe to say eyes were on me in this Zara number. The sun is shining here in New York and that means it's time for little dresses to come out. After a winter of extreme temperatures and insane amounts of snow, being able to get my pasty pins out couldn't have come soon enough. So now fashion has always been the cause for a conversation starter and this dress is no exception. I heard them all yesterday from "quit staring at me" picking up coffee in Starbucks, "that dress is quite a looker" in the elevator at work, and my favourite "LOOK AT YOU" by some friendly suit in FiDi. That's what I love about clothes. The way they enable you to engage with others and them with you in other ways than just normal small talk. The floor is yours guys, what would be your best pun for this eye-catching dress?

New York Fashion Week Day 5

The last day of this New York Fashion Week meant that I just had to wear my absolutely favourite Christopher Kane dress. I had always been such a huge fan of his designs since the unveiling of his first catwalk collection in Spring 2007 and it just astounds me that each and every new collection be brings out is more covetable than the previous (saying that, I would still die to have one of those neon and Swarovski belted bandage dresses - for any potential future boyfriend out there, track down one of those beauties for me and I have a small little spot waiting in my heart for ya, just sayin').

This Autumn/Winter 2014 show was no normal collection for Kane. Multi layered boasting all sorts from sharply tailored work wear and wool overcoats in the prettiest of pastel pinks to signature chunky knits with girlie frill and ruffle details. However this collection was a combination of rugged urban as well as his usual feminine style mixing almost bin-bag like nylon pieces accented with sumptuous mink fur. With only touches of his usual floral elements, Kane played on a botanical elements framing digitally printed flowers in a sheer organza on the front of A-Line shifts and mini skirts, yet scatters of crystals were seen on the fronts of suits and two piece ensembles creating an almost LED effect as the crystals shimmered and sparkled with the models strutting down the catwalk. Oh and what a way to close the show. Organza used to emulate pages in a book that moved magically down catwalk with a lightness and etherial finish that only Kane can do with such finesse.

A wonderful (yet bitterly cold) New York Fashion Week, and a huge thank you to Snapette for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to go to so many shows. Next season in Paris..? Lets see where this amazing industry takes me.

Heading off to a little shindig at the British Consulate in New York this evening, donning some printed trousers and a cut out blouse. Lets go rub shoulders with some of New York's and London's top social media professionals.

One more day till Friday guys, I can almost feel the weekend!

Tuesday

New York Ephemera

What I'm Wearing: Zara Coat & Shirt, Topshop Sweater, Levi's Jeans & Office Shoes.

The highs, the lows, all lasting for a matter of moments. I often feel like a mayfly in this city. One day dining in New York's finest restaurants rubbing shoulders with the likes of Leo DiCaprio in TAO Downtown and the next sitting in Starbucks for an entire day fully utilising the unlimited wifi and free refills. Sometimes it's hard to keep up. What seem like days pass by in a matter of hours and every mere morsel of time here is spent keeping busy. Perhaps that's why I love this city so much. The never ending list of things to do. With nothing but a moment wasted.

'YOUR eyes that once were never weary of mine
Are bowed in sotrow under pendulous lids,
Because our love is waning.'
And then She:
'Although our love is waning, let us stand
By the lone border of the lake once more,
Together in that hour of gentleness
When the poor tired child, passion, falls asleep.
How far away the stars seem, and how far
Is our first kiss, and ah, how old my heart!'
Pensive they paced along the faded leaves,
While slowly he whose hand held hers replied:
'Passion has often worn our wandering hearts.'
The woods were round them, and the yellow leaves
Fell like faint meteors in the gloom, and once
A rabbit old and lame limped down the path;
Autumn was over him: and now they stood
On the lone border of the lake once more:
Turning, he saw that she had thrust dead leaves
Gathered in silence, dewy as her eyes,
In bosom and hair.
'Ah, do not mourn,' he said,
'That we are tired, for other loves await us;
Hate on and love through unrepining hours.
Before us lies eternity; our souls
Are love, and a continual farewell.'

The Met Steps

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Beanie, Zara Sweater & Shorts, Topshop Booties & Celine Bag.

Today I made the bold decision of coming up with some new years resolutions. Yes, I probably know its a little late to start thinking about it now, but better late than never no? Yes I'm joining the gym, getting fit the standard start to any new year really, but I wanted to put in at least a little more effort this time around.

Many of my friends are addicted to  something, whether it be sweets, chocolate, Pringles or Diet Coke, but I don't have than one food that I can't get enough of and I tend to eat pretty healthily anyway.

So sitting down for lunch today it hit me.

Online shopping.

I am totally obsessed with it. And I can never get enough. Plus it never feels like I'm actually spending money. And when that parcel arrives at your door the rush of endorphins that come with that new item are just incredible.
So after much deliberation and a bout of extreme nausea I have decide to stop shopping online for a whole year.
365 days. 8766 hours. 525949 minutes. Gosh, I'm shaking just thinking about it.

It's not so say that presents aren't extremely welcome. In fact this year they are more welcome than ever!

Wish me luck, I'm seriously going to need it!

Monday

Highline

What I'm Wearing: Artizia Silk Cap, Missguided Swing Vest, Zara Wool Coat, Vintage Levi's & Gap Leopard Sneakers

The Highline is one of my absolute favourite spots in the city. A small tranquil route, elevated one story above the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Only New York would use an old historical freight rail line and transform it into the cutest of public parks. Hopping on right by my apartment and wondering all the way down to Chelsea market, its like a breath of fresh air. Artwork, sculptures, greenery and flowers line the track - which are all pretty sparse in the city. A recommended visit for all those visiting New York, grab a coffee and wonder on down for the perfect getaway without actually getting away at all.

Walk In The Park

Spending the holiday's with friends this year is pretty damn great. I was a little hesitant at first to be celebrating Christmas away from my family as that's all I've ever known, and not getting to enjoy our traditional 15 dish Christmas Day feast would be one that I would find very hard to miss. But at the same time, I am certainly not one to say no to new experiences. I am extremely fortunate to have such great friends in the city and this Thanksgiving (my first ever Thanksgiving at that) was spent walking through the park, eating and drinking far too many glasses of wine with my wonderful friends. Well, would there be any better way to spend it? My darling friend Stayf Stefanie, took these snaps as we wondered through Central Park on the beautifully crisp day. The park was looking beyond splendid, packed to the brim with families who had all come into town for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the most gorgeous little doggies all suited and booted in their little quilted coats. To say I am falling in love with this city would be an understatement.

Thursday

Winter Coat

What I'm Wearing: Urban Outfitters Panama Hat & Sweater, Zara Coat, Gap Jeans & Topshop Boots.

Say hello to my newest winter wardrobe addition. This double breasted little beaut is totally my new obsession for this oh so chilly season. When it comes down to winter coats I have a million and one difference styles furs, leathers, trenches you name it, but for some bizarre reason I have never had a wool pea type coat - hence why this is such an exciting purchase. Teamed with a vintage hat from Urban Outfitters which by some miraculous reason fits my giant head perfectly. Sorry about the lack of outfits posts recently, be crazy busy sorting out everything for New York. Less than two weeks till the big moving date now. Absolutely buzzing!

Monday

Day At The Races

A whole heep of friends, obscenely indulgent picnics and far too many bottles of champagne.
That must only mean one thing.
Ascot and the almighty Shergar Cup.
Sounds like the title of a new adventure series right? Anyhoo...

This event is hugely coveted by my fiends and I, and is such a wonderful excuse to eat drink and be merry the whole day through. Well Its bound to be 6 o'Clock somewhere.

Delicious bubbles in M&S's finest plastic flutes. Today's bound to be a good day.

What I'm Wearing: Zara Dress, & Other Stories Rings, Elkin Bracelets & Michael Kors Shoes.

With 6 races scheduled for the day, I decided to spread my chances and place a cheeky bet on each one.
Go big or go home right?

Collecting my winnings #1
Yeah buddy!

Celebratory cigar.
Like a boss.

Nicky however was not...

Collecting my winnings #2
The odds were seriously in my favour as guess what....

Collecting my winnings #3
Hello cheeky wad!

It's all down to the wishbone necklace...new lucky charm!

Following a rather fortunate day of winnings (some rather far more fortunate than others), everyone was still on cracking form - popping more bottles in wild anticipation for the 90's disco with performances from the likes of Blue, Atomic Kitted & Rick Astley. Oh what a line up!

Totally obsessed with Laura's little lace back playsuit.

The back detail/backless vibe was rather trending in our little posse.

Girlies looking beaut in their little coral numbers.

Nothing less than huge cheesy grins with the twinnie.

J and I totally loving the Hawaiian headband.

Joe not looking too impressed with the news the Atomic Kitted were about to come on stage.

J and Nicky were rather excited to say the least... cue 'The Tide Is High'.

Getting far too snappy happy, much to Talbots dislike.

Getting down to the 90's tunes.

Cutie pies.

Just some of the motley crew.

Natasha looking absolutely beautiful in head to toe Zara.

Little J was very happy with the news that Blue were about to hit the stage.
Hello #1 fan!

How lovely do these little beauties looking in their Zara and Whistles number's?

Three man piggy back... well why not?

'One Love' for the mother's pride....

A glorious day rounded off with a joyous round of YMCA with copious shirtless dance moves in tow.

Roll on next year. And of course I'll be wearing my trusty wishbone necklace (click here to get yours).
