Paint The Town Red

Okay so I know I have been off the blogging radar for a while to say the least, but I think moving to Williamsburg, starting a new job, visiting London twice, are pretty good enough reasons. Anyhoo, enough of me making excuses.

My free time is very limited but that means when I do get that small window I have to use it wisely. And by wisely I really mean shopping and eating with my nearest and dearest. For those of you who follow me on Instagram (@georgiabenj) you'll notice that I eat, all the time, and its more often then not documented on Instagram, but it's also the perfect platform to flaunt some of my new purchases. This little number from Opening Ceremony had been on my radar for a while and it has literally not left my back since day one. And of course I had to get my initials monogrammed on the jacket, adding my own little touch of Great Britain to this rather American staple.

As I previously mentioned I now reside in Williamsburg, Brooklyn which is a somewhat "edgy/hipster" area. Sadly I do not have an edgy bone in my body as pointed out by my dear friend Lucy when I was back in university but hey ho at least I can dress the part. Donning my brown paper package from Brooklyn Denim Co. and heading off to my favourite coffee shop of the moment, Toby's Estate Coffee, its pretty safe to say that today I fit in wonderfully in my new neighbourhood, which was perfectly captured by my roommate and fantastic photographer Anna Ritsch. Be back soon, promise!

New York Fashion Week Day 5

The last day of this New York Fashion Week meant that I just had to wear my absolutely favourite Christopher Kane dress. I had always been such a huge fan of his designs since the unveiling of his first catwalk collection in Spring 2007 and it just astounds me that each and every new collection be brings out is more covetable than the previous (saying that, I would still die to have one of those neon and Swarovski belted bandage dresses - for any potential future boyfriend out there, track down one of those beauties for me and I have a small little spot waiting in my heart for ya, just sayin').

This Autumn/Winter 2014 show was no normal collection for Kane. Multi layered boasting all sorts from sharply tailored work wear and wool overcoats in the prettiest of pastel pinks to signature chunky knits with girlie frill and ruffle details. However this collection was a combination of rugged urban as well as his usual feminine style mixing almost bin-bag like nylon pieces accented with sumptuous mink fur. With only touches of his usual floral elements, Kane played on a botanical elements framing digitally printed flowers in a sheer organza on the front of A-Line shifts and mini skirts, yet scatters of crystals were seen on the fronts of suits and two piece ensembles creating an almost LED effect as the crystals shimmered and sparkled with the models strutting down the catwalk. Oh and what a way to close the show. Organza used to emulate pages in a book that moved magically down catwalk with a lightness and etherial finish that only Kane can do with such finesse.

A wonderful (yet bitterly cold) New York Fashion Week, and a huge thank you to Snapette for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to go to so many shows. Next season in Paris..? Lets see where this amazing industry takes me.

Heading off to a little shindig at the British Consulate in New York this evening, donning some printed trousers and a cut out blouse. Lets go rub shoulders with some of New York's and London's top social media professionals.

One more day till Friday guys, I can almost feel the weekend!

Tuesday

Polyvore

I do apologise for the lack of outfit posts recently, apart from being glued to my sketchbook and popping out for the occasional bite to eat at my favourite Italian, Carluccio, I have been absolutely inundated with uni work. 5 collections to design and a whole photography project to complete, not particularly fun to say the least. I've recently rediscovered Polyvore and have found it to be a rather enjoyable form of procrastination, so I thought I would show you a few sets I designed styling the Chanel Drip Tee, Homies London Sweater & Celine Me Alone Tee - all from my online store (click here). The tee's are so perfect to dress up and down and the super soft fabric makes you want to just live in them all the time. For all my UK customers, make sure to use you're promo code FREEUKSHIP for free UK delivery, before it runs out! Happy shopping y'all!

Wednesday

SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Sweater

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Sweater, Vintage Levi Shorts, Kurt Geiger Wedges & Tahlia's Closet Skull Necklace.

Say hello to my new favourite jumper! So excited and proud to be wearing a piece from my new collection. Printed tees and oversized sweaters are such a staple in my closet and my go to essential; whether it be heading into uni, drinks with the girls or a day in the office. Can't wait to wear one of my new tees, and dress it up with layers of neck candy. Being rather addicted to every social media site going, I stumble upon all sorts of fashionable quotes and sayings which - along with my blog - is the inspiration behind my new unisex line. We're shooting the look book this weekend and I cannot wait to show off my new slogan tee's, hat's and of course this oversized sweater, but until then, I thought I might give you a little sneak into my mood board I created using imagery from my pinterest and tumblr. Get down to my online store to check out the collection (click here), hope you like it as much as I do!

PS. Super excited to tell you all... I was featured in British Vogue's street style section today (click here to have a look)!

Thursday

Mini Marni Man

What I'm Wearing: ASOS Mongolian Vest, Miss Guided Tailored Blazer, Marni for H&M Tee, Zara Jeans & Isabel Marant Sneakers.

Long day in university today, endless lectures, practicals and new briefs. But on a high note. I got to use my new notebook. I have always been an absolute stationary fiend, requiring a brand new set at the start of every new academic year, but now a little older and hopefully a little wiser - I've resisted forking out a fortune for a new set of pens, pencils and crayons and just treated myself to a brand new notebook. This little Valentino number is my new bag companion, unlined and ready for any idea or sketch that pops into my head. If you fancy getting your hands on one of these little beauties head on over to the Valentino: Master of Couture exhibition at Somerset House (click here for more info)
PS - I am 100% totally and utterly addicted to Nerds.
