New York Fashion Week Day 2

Braving the elements much.
So it has hardly peaked above -4°C this entire fashion week, which well, is a bit of a bummer. However having persevered with this ferociously bitter New York winter for a few months now, I have developed my skills in layering down to an absolute fine art.

Noone would ever know I had long johns and thermals ontop of my cashmere undies under every single outfit. Oh wait you do now.

Rather than step out in shorts and a big ol' fur (like yesterday's outfit - click here) I opted for a slightly more conservative ensemble channelling a combination of Catwoman and Bob Dylan (who knew they were such a complementary pair).

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC BeanieZara Sweater, Versace for H&M Leather Jacket, Aritzia Leather TrousersLa Redoute Clutch & Topshop Boots (& gold socks).

New York style has rubbed off on my somewhat, head to toe black seems to be an option I return to on far too a regular basis. Despite this and donning enough golden studs to set off a dozen metal detectors I head back off to the Lincoln Centre for the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2014 show.

Bumping into my total best friend, yeah I'm kidding, Chiara from The Blonde Salad who is one of the sweetest people ever (click here to view our last event together in NYC) was another great highlight of Fashion Week so far. Together we shivered side by side for another snap together which I posted to Instagram (@georgiabenj) faster than you can say 'cheese'.

And how snazzy is the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week insta-wall. Packed full of the latest insta-pics with #mbfw tagged to the photo, hidden away inside the Lincoln Centre show space.

Lets not forget to mention the fashion scanner. Rather than physical invites which are of course pretty damn cool, at NYFW you scan the barcode that comes with your email invite and it prints out a little ticket for you with your seat allocation. Gah technology these days.
Looking forward to another busy day tomorrow, fingers crossed the snow holds off!

#LFW Spring 2014

Lets start my thanking the clouds for holding off the absolute downpour for at least a couple of hours yesterday. Somerset House courtyard was jam-packed full of bloggers, photographers and fashion folk alike all showcasing London street-style in its truest form and praying that any minute the clouds won't open. Keeping is tonal, I opted for a more relaxed look, throwing on this hugggeeee cropped sweater to keep me warm in the blistering winds. But hey had the legs out - all in the name of fashion. Of course I had to add a bit of red lippy which - for me - is an absolute #LFW must have. MAC's Ruby Woo is my go to colour and has always been ever since I bought my very first lipstick from Selfridges MAC counter oh way back when. Had a shoot for Kerastraight today, and tried out MAC's newest addition to their matt collection - Relentlessly Red - which is a slightly more pink version of their classic Ruby Woo - adding that to the must buy list! Had an absolutely great time with #teamkerastraight and Essence PR, be sure to stay tuned for a post on my gorgeous new locks soon!

Sunday

Limited Edition

Off Duty Tee - £20 (click here)

Dead Cool Tee - £20 (click here)

Model Tee - £20 (click here)

Dope Tee Top - £20 (click here)

Sundays are the perfect occasion to do absolutely nothing, which is exactly what I've done a whole lot of today. Catching up on some of my favourite blogs, showing off my new designs on social media platforms and coming up with some styling ideas for my new range of limited editions t-shirts whilst having a massive movie day snuggled under a duvet on the sofa. A pretty perfect Sunday if you ask me. After my first load of tee's (click here) proved to be pretty damn popular all over the world, sending off packages left right and centre, I decided to come up with a new collection of limited edition pieces, which have just hit my online store today (click here). Polyvore is my favourite site for outfit building and styling inspiration, so where better to show off my new pieces? Check out the rest of my sets on Polyvore (click here)

Sunday

Sunday is my favourite day of the week. A day to do anything you want or completely nothing at all. My Sunday's are usually spent with the family off on a walk somewhere, frolicking through the countryside or heading into my hometown and absolutely favourite part of London, Hampstead. Standing at the tippy top of Parliament Hill you feel on top of the world. London's skyline is so dramatically different from New York where the rows of skyscrapers are intertwined with more skyscrapers. From the highest point in London, the city's most iconic buildings can be seen; the Shard, Gerkin, BT Tower... all visible together from the top of the hill that got its claim to fame in the "kite-flying" scene at the end of Mary Poppins. A glorious evening can only mean that we've got a great week to come. Hope you've all had a great weekend!

Tuesday

Celine Me Alone

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Celine Me Alone Tee, Vintage Levi's, Marni Shoes, Zara Necklace & Kenzo iPhone case.

Isn't the magic hour just perfect. Absolutely worked my socks off yesterday finishing off my photography project (click here to have a peek) and only managed to venture out to take these snaps in the evening. Long were the days that it was pitch black at 4, so happy to have a good full 12 hours of beautiful sunshine even if it is still cold. Sorry for my lack of posts recently, been obscenely busy with a million and one deadlines - 4th year is an absolute killer. I must dash, more work to do. Have a cheeky listen to the Colette playlist (click here) literally the only thing getting me through this work mountain.

Saturday

The New Icons

What I'm Wearing: H&M The New Icons Tee & Trousers, Topshop Boots & SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Snapback.

My little sister went to France, and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt. No, I'm only joking Rae. I love it!
H&M have recently launched a new collection featuring and inspired by the "new icons", including Daphne Groeneveld, Lindsey Wixson, Liu Wen and Joan Smalls. The new breed of international stunners who are undoubtedly following in the footsteps of Naomi, Kate, Christie,  Linda, Cindy who - not so many years ago - donned the titles of the world's first supermodels. H&M are however having a different approach then just simply showing off who they deem the new supermodels are, but stating the fact that anyone can be an icon.

Whether or not you realise, you all have people who look up to you. Perhaps a younger sister, or a classmate or even a colleague, we are all icons in our own right and with a little thanks to H&M for reminding us all, you have the full right to walk a little taller and have that big grin on your face this weekend, knowing that somewhere, to somebody you are an icon.

PS. If you haven't already done so, make sure you head over to my online store (click here) to get your hands on some SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC goodness. Tuesday

Polyvore

I do apologise for the lack of outfit posts recently, apart from being glued to my sketchbook and popping out for the occasional bite to eat at my favourite Italian, Carluccio, I have been absolutely inundated with uni work. 5 collections to design and a whole photography project to complete, not particularly fun to say the least. I've recently rediscovered Polyvore and have found it to be a rather enjoyable form of procrastination, so I thought I would show you a few sets I designed styling the Chanel Drip Tee, Homies London Sweater & Celine Me Alone Tee - all from my online store (click here). The tee's are so perfect to dress up and down and the super soft fabric makes you want to just live in them all the time. For all my UK customers, make sure to use you're promo code FREEUKSHIP for free UK delivery, before it runs out! Happy shopping y'all!

Thursday

You've Got More Issues Than Vogue

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC 'More Issues Than Vogue Tee', Topshop Jeans, Isabel Marant Sneakers, ASOS Coat, Gap Shirt & Zara Necklace.

Yes, I know it is the end of March and almost Easter but for some reason, winter is sticking around. Heaven forbid I leave the house without several layers topped off with some sort of fur, but of course I couldn't wait to show you all one of the tee's from my collection. Had lots of complements on my top today, with some people being rather concerned for my health due to all my "issues". Low and behold, this is certainly a keeper and can't wait to show my girls tonight at dinner. Heading out to the gorgeous little burger joint called Chuck's in North London. Can't wait to get my burger on. If you too have "more issues than vogue" check out my online store (click here) to get a tee of your very own.

Wednesday

SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Sweater

What I'm Wearing: SUPERCALAFASHIONISTIC Sweater, Vintage Levi Shorts, Kurt Geiger Wedges & Tahlia's Closet Skull Necklace.

Say hello to my new favourite jumper! So excited and proud to be wearing a piece from my new collection. Printed tees and oversized sweaters are such a staple in my closet and my go to essential; whether it be heading into uni, drinks with the girls or a day in the office. Can't wait to wear one of my new tees, and dress it up with layers of neck candy. Being rather addicted to every social media site going, I stumble upon all sorts of fashionable quotes and sayings which - along with my blog - is the inspiration behind my new unisex line. We're shooting the look book this weekend and I cannot wait to show off my new slogan tee's, hat's and of course this oversized sweater, but until then, I thought I might give you a little sneak into my mood board I created using imagery from my pinterest and tumblr. Get down to my online store to check out the collection (click here), hope you like it as much as I do!

PS. Super excited to tell you all... I was featured in British Vogue's street style section today (click here to have a look)!
